Installation Plan

The process design of the distillation systems is performed based on results of laboratory and pilot tests or process calculations and simulations.

Experienced employees use these results and create:

  • Piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Interlock lists
  • Data sheets for process related components
FEM Drawing

The design of mechanical system components includes

  • Strength calculations
  • Apparatus detail drawings
  • Arrangement drawings
  • Steel structure drawings
  • Piping plans with isometric drawings
  • Assembly and installation simulation

The design is performed on 3D CAD systems. In special cases strength calculations are performed using the finite element method.

Electrical Plan

Our specialists for electrical engineering, instrumentation, measurement and control technology are responsible for

  • Selection of the instrumentation of the distillation plant
  • Concept design of the control system and selection of all electrical components
  • Electrical plan for switch cabinet and plant cabling
  • Programming of control system and process visualization system
  • Commissioning of instrumentation and control system components

The design of the systems and components will be planned and documented according to all relevant regulations depending on the installation location and the type of distillation system:

  • Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
  • PED (AD 2000), ASME, SQL, DIN EN 1344, DIN EN 1090
  • ATEX Directive 94/9 EC or NEC "National Electrical Code"
  • cGMP
  • GAMP5 and CFR 21 Part 11

All technical services are performed entirely inhouse at VTA. By minimizing the interfaces, a smooth project execution is ensured.
